The work Bernd and Hilla by Bucky Ceramics is a tribute to the legendary photographer duo Bernd and Hilla Becher, renowned for their systematic documentation of industrial structures. In this ceramic interpretation, Bucky Ceramics explores the principles of repetition and variation through the craft of wheel-thrown clay.

The work consists of a series of wheel-thrown forms, each handcrafted and unique, but within a recognizable pattern. Just as the Bechers created serial photographs of similar objects like silos and water towers, Bucky creates a collection of forms that vary in their simplicity, yet together form a powerful unity. These wheel-thrown objects reference the industrial structures in the Bechers’ photographs but emphasize the organic, handcrafted process, reflecting the imperfections of the maker’s hand.

By working with clay, Bucky Ceramics gives new meaning to these objects, not only referencing the industrial forms captured by the Bechers but also highlighting the artisanal value and aesthetic potential of ceramics.
